I am, Vern Clinton, the co-founder of Silk Shorts, Inc., a web design company specializing in the real estate industry and small business, and offering Internet marketing services like Pay Per Click and Search Engine Optimization to our clients. 

My partner, Jana Leonard, and I founded the company in 1996, a time when most people, when asked what they wanted to know about the Internet, would reply: “Well, what is it, anyway?”

Prior to 1996 both Jana and I specialized in relocation for a prominent local real estate brokerage in Sacramento.  Prior to that I had a 25 year background as a broker in California, Nevada and Texas.

Personally, most of my adult life, I lived in South Lake Tahoe, California–mostly as a real estate broker/skier.  I spent several years cruising the South Pacific in my Trimaran, ‘Galadriel’, a 42 foot Brown Searunner and before 1965 was a naval officer on the Aircraft Carrier Bennington (CVS 20), as Explosive Ordinance Disposal and diving officer,  and subsequently transferred to Underwater Demolition Team 12 in Coronado, California. 

After spending ten years at South Lake Tahoe I took time off with my wife to sail the South Pacific.  Lost the first boat in Fiji in a really nasty Typhoon named ‘Meli”  in 1980 about the time of the Three Mile Island disaster back home.

A year later, with a new sailboat, ‘Galadriel’, returned via The Sea of Cortez, The Marquesas, and Tahiti. 

While I still enjoy sailing vacations and occasional boat delivery opportunities, my passion since 1966 has been building Silk Shorts, Inc.  The Internet is perhaps the greatest opportunity for marketing that has ever been availble to individual agents and small brokerages.  It is possible to target your exact ideal prospect and to control your advertising in a way that means you only pay for targeted leads.  What a difference from paying a newspaper or magazine for an ad that won’t have a bit of interest to 99% of their readers!

Anyway,  the content of this blog is designed to educate my target demographic.  I hope that some who follow it will not only learn a lot that will benefit them in the coming years but will also realize that this blog demonstrates a very high level of expertise of Silk Shorts, Inc. that can be put to very good use in their marketing strategy at very low cost.
